Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith says some recent numbers released by the province are not matching up.
The province says unaudited Consolidated Financial Statements for 2015-2016 shows Ontario’s deficit is lower than budgeted for, at around $5-billion.
The province is hoping to balance the budget in 2017-2018.

Smith says this is the first time the government has released these statements without advice from the Auditor General.
He says, according to the Auditor General, the province’s deficit is actually somewhere around $6.5-billion.
Smith says the Auditor General also believes the province’s debt is $10.7-billion higher than being reported by the government.
