Madawaska Valley Council Meeting Slated for this Evening

A resolution is expected to come in Madawaska Valley’s township council tonight after the heated debate over the Lipusz twinning initiative.

Last week it was decided a committee will be appointed – likely including councilors Carl Bromwich and Shelley Maika – to handle all communication and further partnership efforts with the community located in Poland.

The committee is likely to be headed up by Councilor Ernie Peplinski.

Council may also be moving forward with a distracted driving campaign, bringing to MVDHS in Barry’s Bay.

The campaign, bankrolled by the MTO with many local and provincial partners could bring a simulator in the classroom to show just how dangerous texting and driving is.

There’s no forecast on when it could take place but Councillor Carl Bromwich and Mayor Kim Love discussed the idea of bringing in local emergency services to take part as well.

Recommendations from Finance and Administration and Development and Property committees are also on the agenda for this evening.

Council meets at 7:00pm at the Barry’s Bay municipal offices, the public is both welcome and encouraged to attend.

The full agenda can be found here.
