KHR township passes by-law for ballot questions

Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards township council has passed a by-law to include two questions on this year’s municipal election ballot.

During this year’s election, voters will be asked if they are in favour of having four councilors and a mayor, a reduction in the current council size, and whether they are in favour of abolishing the ward system.

The township has noted that each voter will be entitled to answer either yes or no on each question individually.

They also note that the results of the vote will only be binding on council if at least 50 per cent of eligible voters vote on the question, and if more than 50 per cent of the votes are in favour of the result.
