After 50 consultations and more than 2,600 surveys over a year-long engagement process, Renfrew County District School Board’s four-year strategic plan is complete.
Feedback directly shaped the board’s priorities for the plan aimed at preparing students for emerging challenges by strengthening literacy and math, teaching AI and digital citizenship, integrating financial literacy, and expanding mental health supports.
Board chair Leo Boland said the plan is a true reflection of the community’s voice, taking into account the concerns of students, families and staff.
Strategic priorities in the plan include an Indigenous education aspect, integrating Indigenous histories and perspectives across subjects and providing support for Indigenous students to succeed.
It also includes foundational and future-ready skills, to strengthen literacy and math, and develop students’ digital, financial and career readiness.
The third priority in the plan is well-being and belonging, prioritizing mental and physical health in schools where all students and staff feel they belong.
Director of Education Kristen Niemi said at the heart of the strategic plan is an unwavering commitment to the achievement and well-being of all learners.
Niemi said the board wants every student graduating from the board to have the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
