Wintry conditions remain following freezing rain

Environment Canada’s weather warning for yesterday’s ice storm has ended, but a special weather statement remains in effect for strong winds up to 70 km/h today.

The County of Renfrew declared a significant weather event as a result of the freezing rain, stating we could see ice buildup of 15 to 20 mm and it may take longer than usual to complete winter maintenance.

Environment Canada says combined with the ice buildup from the freezing rain, strong winds today could lead to utility outages and property damage.

The wind is expected to ease tonight.
