Yakabuski Re-Introduces Bill Calling for Protection Against Violent Offenders

MPP of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke John Yakabuski has re-introduced his private member’s bill calling for better protection from violent offenders.

Yakabuski re-introduced the bill on the anniversary of the triple-homicides in the Madawaska Valley yesterday.

The bill calls for electronic monitoring of sexual or domestic offenders and will require inmates to sign their certificate of parole before being released.

He says the local community is still feeling the effects and now it’s brought attention as a provincial issue as well.

Before the Ontario government prorogued the bill had all-party support and Yakabuski says he’s hoping it will continue moving forward to its second reading.
