September 22nd marks one year since three women were killed in Madawaska Valley
Today marks the anniversary of the shooting in the Madawaska Valley which claimed the lives of Anastasia Kuzyk, Nathalie Warmerdam and Carol Culleton.
Madawaska Valley’s Mayor Kim Love says the community still hasn’t healed as Basil Borutski, was only ordered in April to stand trial for three counts of first-degree murder.
Love says the tragic events brought the community together in an extremely profound way.
Today at noon a memorial trail ride is being held at Wilno Park in honour of the three women.
Proceeds from the ride will be going to the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre in Pembroke which manages the region.
