Melissa Bishop of Eganville is taking to the track today in Rio.
First heats begin this morning just before 10:00am in the women’s 800 meter, with Bishop in heat-four at 10:15am.
Her parents, Doug and Alison left for Rio on Monday and many in Eganville have been preparing for the event this week.
The Eganville District Public School is holding a special event today with doors opening at 9:00am.
Bishop, a Canadian multi-record breaker holds the third fastest time of the year after competing in Edmonton last month and is considered by many experts to be in medal contention.
