After yesterday’s rainfall, local fire departments will be reviewing fire ban statuses.

Yesterday, Environment Canada called for 40 to 60 millimetres of rainfall in the area.

Fire Chief Pat Hoover says, although the review will be happening today, the total fire ban remains in effect in North Hastings at this time, meaning no open air burning is allowed.

Madawaska Valley Fire Chief Corwin Quade has lifted ban to night-time burning only, however with the rain the township will be re-evaluating the ban.

Updates will be posted here and to social media.
