The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has issued a 72-hour strike notice. The union representing rural and urban mail carriers says this means they will be legally allowed to strike as of Friday (Nov. 15) if negotiated settlements aren’t reached.

Officials also say even though they’ve given notice to Canada Post, they haven’t decided whether job action will happen right away.
The union says that will depend on the employer’s actions at the bargaining table over the next few days.
Moose FM reached out to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers in Ottawa and Belleville (the branches that represent Bancroft and Barry’s Bay) but have not heard back at this time.
