Smith Pushing for Better Internet Coverage in Rural Areas

Hastings County’s MPP wants the provincial government to do more for Rural Ontario to improve internet access.

This comes as the Premier has been asked by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce to make internet access in rural communities a priority.

Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith says, although Eastern Ontario has been a front runner in developing internet access through the Eastern Ontario Regional Network, it can be hard to keep up with change.

Smith says the provincial government needs to understand the importance of internet access in order to maintain and grow communities in Rural Ontario.

He says we need a greater investment towards the service from the province of Ontario and from private industry.
