Pembroke man charged after vehicle stolen in Saskatoon found during traffic stop

A man from Pembroke has been charged after a noon hour traffic stop on Sept. 29.

Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) OPP made the stop on Pembroke Street East in Pembroke, after a stolen vehicle alert was received from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system in the cruiser.

The ALPR system can read thousands of licence plates per minute, allowing officers to process more information on licence plates. It also has the capability of capturing vehicles of interest such as Amber Alerts, drivers with a suspended licence and stolen vehicles.
