The CO Blitz brought cardboard and duct tape engineers together to a packed Combermere’s Mayflower Beach for one of the more bizarre events hosted in the area.

The blitz gives teams of up to four the chance to build a boat solely out of cardboard and duct tape.

Nearly a dozen teams took part in the event.

Organizer for the event Steph Park says usually the boats don’t even make it through half the course but this year’s entries were far better.

Park says the volunteers, recreation committee and local sponsors are the backbone of making the event both free and one of the larger summer activities in Madawaska.

Mayor Kim Love says this year had one of the best turnouts with some of the best weather.

She says the local support for the event never ceases to amaze her.
