It was a busy weekend for art lovers in the area with both the Apsley and Bancroft studio tours taking place.
Moose FM spoke with several artists on the Bancroft Tour who said it had been a great day with lots of traffic. Stephanie Park, a potter and guest at the studio of Amy Doole in Maynooth, said both were alumni of the ceramics program at the Haliburton School of the Arts.
“She [Doole] was sort of my inspiration for going to pottery school and getting into this career.”
“Its been an excellent day. We were so busy this morning. The sun came out and a little bit of rain. The fall colors are coming too, lots of friendly faces that we see every year and lots of new ones too.
Doole said another fun part of the tour for artists was that sometimes they found creative ways to connect even sending messages to each other through their patrons.
“Especially this year with Karen (Gray) being on the tour, we used to share a studio…Sometimes it’s just thing like ‘rock ‘em, sock ‘em, have a good day’ kind of stuff.
“We sometimes, know which directions people were going so we could send things, actual physical objects, person to person.”

We spoke with artist Patrick Doherty and his guest Irina Shestakowich who said while traffic in their area had been a bit slower, sales had been great and there’d been a lot of interesting guests coming by.
Miriam Hookings of Lucky Maloo who makes upcylced clothing and decor from natural materials said it had been a great start to the tour as well. Painter Ketha Newman from her stunning hilltop studio in Monteagle agreed it had been a great flow of guests through the day.
