Hastings County’s MPP wants the provincial government to put a focus on bringing doctors to communities in Rural Ontario.
Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith explains there is a shortage of doctors in communities in Rural Ontario.
Smith says it shouldn’t be up to municipalities to create an incentive for young doctors to come to rural communities, but up to the province as they pay for and provide health care.
He points out municipalities understand the importance of having family physicians to attract new residents, and hold onto existing ones.
