A 14-year-old youth is facing consequences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) after threats were made against a school in Petawawa.
On Sept. 9, at 8:30 a.m., Upper Ottawa Valley OPP began investigating after the school received a message that someone was threatening to use a firearm at the school.
Officers, with assistance from a crime unit and school officials, “worked quickly to identify a potential suspect and investigate the threat.”
Investigation found the youth did not have access to firearms and did not initially grasp the seriousness of their comments.
