A local non-profit organization with national backing is looking to make the Madawaska Valley beautiful.

Communities in Bloom aims to improve beautification in communities across Canada and uses it to raise environmental awareness.

The local program is looking for entries in its competition for gardens, arrangements and mailbox displays just to name a few.

From the Madawaska Valley committee, Town Councillor Faith Archer says the program has received a great deal of support from local businesses.

Also a committee member, Debbie Marshall says the BIA is responsible for many of the flowers in downtown Barry’s Bay.

Registration for Communities in Bloom can be done through applications at the Madawaska Township Hall, some local businesses, the Co-operators offices and at the Moose.
