Hastings Highlands council has voted to make changes to the municipality’s boathouse bylaw,
The amended bylaw means the boathouses can only have one-level, with only one boathouse allowed on a lot, which cannot have sleeping or cooking facilities, or septic and water hookups.Size restrictions have also been added.
Baptiste Lake Association Lake Plan Implementation Coordinator David Hawkes says his organization is pleased with the decision.
Hawkes says the decision will mean, what he calls ‘Giant Boat Houses’, will no longer be built.
