KAPOA Poker Run Exceeds Estimates for Hospital Donation

The KAPOA Poker Run benefitting the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation far exceeded its estimated totals.

Participants took to nearly 100 square kilometres of waterways for the fourth annual poker run, raising just over $11,000 on Saturday.

Executive Director of the foundation Toni Lavigne-Conway says the partnerships between the foundation and the Kaminiskeg Area Property Owners Association has been one of its most successful ones.

For the past four years the proceeds from each run have been going to the digital mammography unit housed within the Barry’s Bay hospital.

Lavigne-Conway says the foundation represents not only the hospital in Barry’s Bay, but also the local manor and hospice.

With this year’s funding, the unit will be completely paid off and KAPOA is already in talks with the foundation to see where else it can help next year.
