OPP are warning Ontario residents about a scam involving cryptocurrency.
OPP and the Cyber-Enabled Fraud Team is looking into a scam where victims are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in fake crypto currency investments.
Investigators are warning the public not to engage with the following websites: www[.]How2Crypto[.]com and www[.]How2Crypto[.]net .
Anyone who has dealt with the websites, is asked to contact their local police service or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center at 1-888-495-8501 / antifraudcenter.ca.
Police want people to know: “Once you send your crypto, it is gone. Government agencies do not accept cryptocurrencies. People should always conduct due diligence, ask questions and research before sending anyone their crypto.”
