Renfrew OPP, Horton Township Firefighters and Renfrew County Paramedics were called to Thompson Road just before 9 p.m. on July 8, where it was reported that a man in a small boat had gone over the Bonnechere Falls.
Boats from the Arnprior Fire Department and paramedic services were launched as part of the search.
The male’s body was located in the water, downstream from the falls.
Despite life-saving efforts, the 82-year-old man was pronounced deceased.

The man’s 59-year-old son also went over the falls in a kayak while searching for his father.
He was not seriously hurt but was transported to hospital as a precaution
