Scotiabank branches in Maynooth and Wilberforce are closing

Despite holding public meetings, Scotiabank is moving forward with plans to close its branches in Maynooth and Wilberforce.

Last night, a public meeting was held in Wilberforce, while another was held in Maynooth on Monday.

Scotiabank says it will be consolidating these branches with the Bancroft location in January.

Director of Canadian Banking Communications Heather Armstrong says the meetings were meant to assist customers when the changes do come into effect.

Armstrong says the way people want to their banking is driving these changes.

Although not all customers use digital and online banking, 80 per cent of all transactions take place outside of the branch.
