You are being asked to watch for children playing near the road

The Quinte West OPP is reminding drivers to be careful for youth on roads and sidewalks.

Police say drivers keep an eye out for youth playing close to sidewalks and roads at all hours of the day now that school is over.

This includes watching for anything that may come bouncing onto the road, as a child may follow.

Parents are also being asked to teach their kids to make eye-contact with a driver before stepping off the curb, and to walk across the street instead of running, even at a crosswalk.

They also ask that children don’t jaywalk, and use crosswalks and intersections.
