Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health says kids need more sleep.
The health unit says Canadian children and youth are not getting enough sleep or physical activity.
This leads to kids being too tired to be active during the day, but not enough to be tired at night.
The health unit says 31 per cent of school-aged children are sleep deprived, along with 26 per cent of teens.
Sleep deprivation can lead to lower IQ scores and hormone changes that can contribute to an increased risk of obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.
