On March 5th, with help from the canine unit, Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV)  Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residence in Pembroke after receiving a report of unwanted persons at the location.

Police then seized almost 100 grams of suspected cocaine and a 2-kilogram Chihuahua that had been reported missing on February 24.

We spoke with OPP spokesperson Shawn Peever,

“One of the officers was mindful of the fact that this missing Chihuahua had been reported some time ago and sure enough, that was the dog” Said Peever, “The dog was in good condition and returned to the owner. I guess that’s a happy part of the story for sure. And we also got a significant amount of drugs off the street, which is good as well”

Officers also located items typically associated with drug trafficking, including cash, cell phones and digital scales.
