A committee which includes Hastings County’s MP has put forward recommendations to the federal government to inspire economic, social and environmental advancement.
A release by Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Mike Bossio says the federal Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development has provided 13 recommendations towards the ‘Federal Sustainable Development Act.’
These recommendations include:
That the federal sustainable development strategy includes measurable, time-bound targets. It would also mean the strategy is re-assessed every two years.
Engaging all central government agencies in developing and implementing the federal sustainable development strategy. It would also see these agencies take a united approach to federal sustainable development.
It would also mean creating ways to improve the enforcement and accountability within the federal government to meet the federal sustainable development strategy targets.
