Evening Grosbeaks spotted in Algonquin Park

If you’re heading to the park you might want to keep your eyes out for a special little bird: The Evening Grosbeak. While it is classified as a Species at Risk in Ontario and can be hard to catch a glimpse of, staff at The Algonquin Park visitor center confirm there has been a lot of activity of this colourful bird,  daily at their bird feeder.

According to their FB page “Evening Grosbeaks are striking-looking, seed-eating specialists that use their massive bill to crush cherry pits and other large seeds. This winter, Algonquin Park is one of the best locations to observe this declining bird species.”
