The Bancroft committee of the whole will continue to consider supporting the York River boardwalk project.

A motion was discussed by the committee, asking it to send letters to property owners opposing the project, asking them to reconsider.

The Bancroft Boardwalk Steering Committee also made a presentation to the committee of the whole, saying 2,000 feet of the project are complete, with 300 left to go.

Member Burke Chamberlin says there a number of benefits to having a completed boardwalk.

Chamberlin says about $280,000 has been spent on the project, with $88,000 coming from a Trillium grant.

The rest of the funds come from local businesses.

Some members of the committee of the whole have expressed concerns sending these letters may be viewed as harassment, which Chamberlin says is not the intent.

The committee of the whole voted to defer the decision to a later meeting.
