Several Renfrew County municipalities are getting help from the province for critical infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges and wastewater projects.

Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski made the announcement Monday, saying the money comes from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF), with hopes that the work will create jobs, too.

Madawaska Valley is receiving $269,967.  Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards is receiving $265,856. Bonnechere Valley is receiving $576,954. Renfrew County will get $2,398,538.

Yakabuski says each municipality will have flexibility on what projects the money can be spent on.

The OCIF is allocating $400 million dollars across the province next year to help small and rural communities.
