Food Bank getting ready for holidays, following Radiothon support

Our Moose FM Spirit of Giving Radiothon has gathered plenty of donations for the Madawaska Valley Food Bank. And among the next tasks for the food bank is to prepare for its pre-Christmas give out.

The Food Bank hopes to give out turkeys and hams to community members who need support on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

President Paul Thompson says the food bank has seen record numbers of people accessing its services in recent months. But, he adds, the community also tends to step up when the need is greatest.

“It’s a little sobering to see the need being so high in our community and steadily rising, as well,” he says. “But, at the same time, it’s really heartening to see the support from the community.”

People can donate directly to the food bank by e-transfer to [email protected]

Financial donations can also be made at Gift it Gray and Easton Accounting in Barry’s Bay. Food will still be collected at Metro and Valu-Mart.
