You can expect to see police vehicles on the road over the next several weeks, as they watch for impaired drivers.

Killaloe OPP has launched its Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

The campaign runs until January 1 with an aim of taking alcohol and drug-impaired drivers off the road.

The detachment says, “Police will be highly visible throughout this campaign, and motorists should expect to see RIDE programs in their communities.”

“Citizens are reminded to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or drugs, and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed alcohol or drugs.”

Killaloe Sgt. Chris Miller says, “Impaired driving affects all our communities.” He adds that, “Members of the public are encouraged to call 911 to report suspicion of both alcohol and drug impaired drivers” to keep roads safe during the holiday season.
