Healthcare Foundation launches Tree of Lights Campaign

A big tree will again be lit in Barry’s Bay this holiday season. It will shine a light on those who support local health care.

St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation is preparing for its Tree of Lights ceremony on Friday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at The Railway Station.

The lights on the tree will represent donations made to the Foundation, which this year will go towards the purchase of a mammography unit for St. Francis Memorial Hospital.

Foundation volunteers recently sent out letters in the mail to potential donors. The letter tells the story of Madawaska’s Sharon Florent, who shared her journey with cancer and why she’s grateful to have access to health care close to home.

Donations can be made by responding to the letter. For other ways to donate, or to learn more, call the Foundation at 613-756-3045 ext. 217.
