The people who care for the park in the heart of Barry’s Bay are looking for some new help.

The Zurakowski Park Committee is looking for new members.

A social media post from Madawaska Valley Township, says “committee members meet annually, participate in funding efforts, manage funds for the park, arrange maintenance and upkeep, and organize bookings of park space.”

Zurakowski Park, off the Opeongo Line in downtown Barry’s Bay, pays tribute to Janusz Zurakowski, a pilot who flew Canada’s famous CF-105 Avro Arrow and later settled in the area.

A model of the Avro that hangs at the park was recently repaired and re-hung, with work from the committee.
