Madawaska Valley to hire new Deputy Clerk

Madawaska Valley will be hiring a new Deputy Clerk soon.

Mayor Mark Willmer says the Township will be interviewing candidates for the key administrative position this week.

The job opened up after long-time Deputy Clerk Gwen Dombroski took on a similar role with Renfrew County.

Willmer says the new hire will have big shoes to fill, since Dombroski did lots of behind-the scenes work to make the municipality run smoothly.

“She always chipped in when needed,” he said. “She filled in as Recreation Director when we didn’t have one. She filled in as [Chief Administrative Officer] when we didn’t have one. She’s done a lot, and she always steps forward.”

Dombroski will still have some work in Madawaska Vally though. Council has approved her to continue on as an officiant who can perform marriage ceremonies.
