Get a water bottle and find a shady space; we’ve got hot weather today.

A Heat Warning remains in effect for Barry’s Bay, with temperatures above 30 C. With the Humidex, it could feel more like 40 C.

Environment Canada issues several warnings when temperatures reach these heights.

It recommends people watch for the effects of heat illness, such as swelling, rashes, cramps, fainting and heat stroke.

It also advises people to drink plenty of water, check on older family, friends and neighbours and not leave pets in parked vehicles.

However, relief appears to be on the way.

A cooler air mass is expected to arrive in the region on Thursday. Day-time high temperatures are expected to decline through the rest of the week, to the low 20s by Saturday.
