You can take a walk through Barry’s Bay history on Tuesday night; almost literally.

The Station Keepers’ Theresa Prince is hosting a “History Walk and Talk Merchants Tour.”  It leaves the Railway Station at 6 p.m.

Prince will take people down the Opeongo Line and stop at locations with plaques that were put up by the former Barry’s Bay Heritage Society. At each plaque site, she’ll talk more about the history of the location.

“We’re going to visit, in our imaginations, the early merchants that had general stores along the Opeongo Line in Barry’s Bay back in the 1890s to 1900s and up to 1950,” she said. “We will hear what our town was like, ‘back in the day.’”

There’s no charge for the walk.

Prince is holding a similar event to tell people about the history of Wilno. That event is Monday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m., starting from Wilno Heritage Museum and Park.
