Volleyball players will soon help the Huntington’s Society of Canada see a spike in donations.

The annual Beach Volleyball Tournament for Huntington’s returns to Lakeshore Park on Saturday, July 22.

Forty-eight teams have registered to play in the event, which runs from 8 a.m. to about 6 p.m.

Tournament organizer Melissa Craftchick says the tournament is returning for the first time since COVID, but it’s been an annual tradition that dates back 18 years.

She says it’s important for her and her family, because it brings out the community to show support for those battling Huntington’s Disease.

The neurological brain disease is genetic and several people in Craftchick’s family have been affected by it.

Although the tournament isn’t registering any more teams, Craftchick says community members are encouraged to come out to spectate, volunteer or donate by supporting the raffle.
