A new hockey team for Barry’s Bay will be called the Madawaska Valley Wolves, or “MV Wolves” for short.
That from Michael Summers, the owner of the new Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League franchise. He said the team will play most of its home games out of the Paul J. Yakabuski Centre on Saturday nights, starting in the fall.
Summers says he feels excitement is building for the new team, which is currently recruiting local players who’ve played high levels of hockey.
The EOSHL is a league for men ages 20 and over and it has teams in several similar-sized small communities. Many of its players are former junior or American college players. And Summers says the league even has a few former pros.
