Police are asking Renfrew County residents to be cautious, as separate homicide investigations unfold in two nearby communities.  In both cases, suspects are at large, but police believe the victims were targeted.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP say in Pembroke two are dead and another person has life-threatening injuries. Police were called to Mackay Street before 3 a.m. on Monday. They found two people with serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital where one died. A third victim was found dead later, not far from the scene. Identities have not been released.

And in the Town of Renfrew, 41-year-old Jonathan Logan was killed on Friday night. Renfrew OPP is still investigating the death, which the detachment says happened at about 10:30 p.m. Police were called to a home on Vimy Boulevard, where, they say, Logan had died of gunshot wounds.

Pembroke OPP Constable Mike Mahon says there’s no information, at this point, to suggest the cases are linked. But he stressed the investigations are in the early stages and police are asking for the public’s help.

“We always like to remind people to be vigilant and be aware of their surroundings,” he says. “If they happen to notice any suspicious activity, by all means, give us a call. They can call our toll-free number and, if they feel it’s an emergency, call 911.”

Anyone with information can call OPP at 1-888-310-1122. They can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
