Use caution when someone contacts you out of the blue to ask for money.

That message comes from Killaloe OPP, which says it’s been fielding lots of complaints lately about telephone and online frauds.

Officers advise you to verify the identity of anyone that’s asking you for money transfers or banking information.

They add, if you receive a call from a person claiming to be a family member in need of money, you should call back on a contact number you have for that person.

If you believe you have been the victim of a fraud you can contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or by visit www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.
