MVDHS and Sherwood Public School merger planned 

Plans are underway to merge two Barry’s Bay schools – and give it a new name.  

The Renfrew County District School Board says it wants to combine Sherwood Public School and Madawaska Valley District High School. It would become one Kindergarten to Grade 12 school.  

The schools already share a building, at 341 John St., but are, for now, considered two different schools. 

An Information Night meeting to talk about the merger and name change is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, May 15 at the schools’ library.  

The board says the Barry’s Bay community will be able to give input on a new name, as the board has a thorough policy on how schools are renamed.
