UPDATE: Body of missing fisherman recovered from Bark Lake

Condolences are pouring in online for Barry’s Bay family dealing with a tragedy. 

A Facebook post by Lindsay Libby confirmed that it was her husband, Nate, who died in a fishing accident on Bark Lake on the weekend.

Bancroft OPP says it was contacted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday about a man who had gone fishing on the lake, in Hastings Highlands, and did not return home. The Underwater Search and Recovery Unit found the body at 11 a.m. on Sunday. 

An online campaign was set up to support the family, which has a young son plus another baby on the way. It had raised more than $70,000 by Monday afternoon.

Monday, March 27, 12 noon

Ontario Provincial Police say they have located the body of a missing fisherman in Bark Lake. 

Bancroft OPP says it was contacted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday about a man who had gone fishing on the lake, in Hastings Highlands south of Barry’s Bay, and did not return home.

The Underwater Search and Recovery Unit was called in and the body was found at 11 a.m. on Sunday. 

Police say an investigation is continuing and a post-mortem exam will be conducted. 

The identity of the man was not released.
