Explosives may still be found along Ottawa River

The Garrison Petawawa is warning you about the possibility of explosives on Ottawa River beaches.

The Garrison says a stretch of beaches from Black Point to Black Bear Beach may still be at risk of Unexploded Explosive Ordnances, or UXOs.

Although a lot of work has been put into reducing the risk of UXOs, the constant flow of the river and sandy beaches there can’t be certainty they’ve all been removed.

You are being asked to obey the buoys, fences and signs that have been put up for your protection.

If you do come across a UXO, do not touch it, remember where it is, and call 911.
