A Barry’s Bay teenager is hitting the ice this weekend in an Ontario Winter Games competition.

Chad Stoppa is a member of the Niagara Thunderblades sledge hockey team.

Stoppa and his Thunderbirds’ teammates have games at the Petawawa Civic Centre on Friday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and then on Saturday at 8 a.m. The tournament’s playoff games are Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Stoppa has been playing sledge hockey from the time he was in Kindergarten and has played with Team Ontario. Next week, he’ll attend a Team Canada development camp.
