More athletes coming to Renfrew County for second weekend of Games

After a busy first weekend, organizers of the Ontario Winter Games are getting ready for part two.

The second batch of competitions in the Renfrew County-hosted event, will take place between Thursday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 12.  

About 1,400 new athletes are coming to Renfrew County, for these competitions.  A second opening ceremony for these athletes will take place at Ma-te-Way Park in Renfrew Thursday, Feb. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. 

On Friday, Feb. 10 the weightlifting competition will take place at Madawaska Valley District High School.

The event is open to the public, but spectators are asked to be courteous as classes will be in session at the same time. 

Volunteers are needed for this event. If you’re interested in helping out, you can sign up through the Games website.
