UPDATE: Suspect in Bonnechere Valley homicide in custody

Police say the suspect in a homicide investigation in Bonnechere Valley is now in custody.

Killaloe OPP announced Thursday morning that a search warrant had been issued for 18-year-old Trey Gagnon of Laurentian Valley. He was wanted for second-degree murder and police feared there was a risk to public safety.

An updated statement from OPP, released just before 2 p.m., said the suspect is now in custody and there’s no longer a threat to safety.  It included no other details about the arrest. 

OPP say officers were called to a home in Bonnechere Valley at 9 p.m. Wednesday night, responding to a 911 call. When they arrived, one person was dead. The exact location and details on the victim have not been released.

Police are investigating a homicide in Bonnechere Valley – and say the suspect is on the loose and poses a threat to safety. 

OPP has issued a search warrant for 18-year-old Trey Gagnon of Laurentian Valley. He’s wanted for second-degree murder. 

They say he may be in a black 2022 four-door Honda Civic, with the licence plate CHTE 185. Police say if you see this person or the vehicle, don’t approach. Call 911 immediately.

There are few details on the crime itself at this point. An OPP release says police were called to a home in Bonnechere Valley at 9 p.m. last night, after responding to a 911 call. When they arrived, one person was dead. The exact location and details on the victim were not included in the release. 

Several police units are investigating – and there’s a heavy police presence in southwest Renfrew County today. If anyone has information, they’re asked to call OPP.
