The future of local health care is bright, after St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation’s Tree of Lights campaign.

The campaign raised $120,000 for a new ultrasound for St. Francis Memorial Hospital.

That number has the Foundations nearing the amount of money needed to make the purchase. Executive Director Erin Gienow says staff will explore some options to ensure it’s eventually achieved. There’s hope that the ultrasound could be in place sometime in 2024.

Gienow says she was thrilled with the campaign, which culminated with a ceremony in December at the Barry’s Bay Railway Station.

A tree was lit with bulbs representing donations made in the names of people’s loved ones. The annual event made a triumphant return to the park after two COVID-impacted winters.
