Lakeshore Park plan means it’s “shovel-ready” for grant programs

If grant opportunities to improve parks come up, Madawaska Valley will be ready to pounce.

A concept plan to revitalize Lakeshore Park in Barry’s Bay, allows the municipality to say the park is “shovel-ready” for improvements, says Township’s Recreation Co-ordinator Hannah Gutoskie.

She says the report, which was unveiled at a council meeting earlier this week, will guide the Township for several years. It lists options to fix long-time problems, such as the large Canada goose population and drainage issues in the playground. It also suggests ideas for improvement, such as expanding the beach and adding new plants and green spaces.

Gutoskie says that, over time, Madawaska Valley can turn the park into a “landmark” and special place to visit.

The full report can be found here.
