106.5 Moose FM is asking for your support as we hold the Spirit of Giving Radiothon on Friday, Dec. 9  for the Madawaska Valley Food Bank.

We’ll be broadcasting live from Valu-Mart in Barry’s Bay from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then at the Metro in Barry’s Bay from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. You can stop by and support the community with a donation for the food bank.

The food bank is seeing rising demand for its services as a result of inflation and pressure still being felt by the pandemic.  President Paul Thompson explains the types of foods that are needed.

“The basics like soup, pasta, tomato sauce, canned fish like tuna, peanut butter, Kraft Dinner. We can use all we can get of those basic items.”

The food bank hopes to give out turkeys and other special items to people, ahead of Christmas. But it also needs donations to get through the whole winter, says Thompson.

“We’re looking at raising money and also stocking up on food, for the year as well. December is a very, very  important time for donations. But we have to make sure we can operate all year and (meet) continued demand.”

If you can’t make it to the stores on Friday, you can learn how to donate, by clicking on the Spirit of Giving banner at www.mybarrysbaynow.com
