Barry’s Bay Recreation Committee needs volunteers and donations to bottle drive

There’s no shortage of fun things to do in Madawaska Valley this holiday season, thanks to the Barry’s Bay Recreation Committee. But it needs some help.

The committee is looking for new volunteers to help stage events, says board member Nicole Castle.

The committee also has a fundraising bottle drive on the go. People can bring their “empties” to the Bark Lake Waste Disposal site. There’s a box there for the campaign and the proceeds from the return of the bottles will help offset the costs of programs.

The committee starts a weekly karaoke program this week. You can attend the Barry’s Bay Legion every Wednesday, starting Dec.  7, to sing your heart out from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

A free Skate with Santa event takes place on Sunday, De. 18 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre.

The committee also has two skates at the arena on New Year’s Eve; a family skate from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a Youth Skate from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

You can reach out to the committee through its Facebook page.
